While we are in the midst of summer, hockey season is right around the corner and this year we have an extra reason to celebrate! The Lakers Junior Hockey team (www.lakershockey.com) is now part of our community here in Forest Lake! They are one of 17 teams in the MN Junior Hockey League (www.mnjhl.com) which covers 7 states in the Midwest developing players for college hockey. They are a very exciting addition to our hockey family and will add a new dimension to our season.

With many of the players coming from out of state and possibly from different countries, they will need local host families to take them in during the season. This program is called Billeting and requires that a family has an extra bedroom for the player and that the player become part of the family for the seven months that they live and play here. Billeting families will be compensated both financially and with the rich reward of having the opportunity to play an important part in a young man?s life. It may even give you a new perspective on hockey by seeing it through the eyes of an elite player.
