Concession Stand

2011-2012 Volunteer Policy

4 Hours
Each family is required to fulfill 4 hours of volunteer time during The Hockey Swap, Tryouts or Forest Lake Hosted Tournaments (Nov., Jan., and Feb.).  Contact the Forest Lake tournament Director, Joelle Swan if interested in volunteering at the hosted tournaments once the schedules are posted. teamswan@aol.com

Your family is exempt from the 4 hours if someone from your family is on the board, a committee, is a manager or a coach.

There will be a limit as to how many coaches/managers per team can claim the coach/manager exemption. Basically, there will be 16 hours (four 4 hour exemptions) allowed per team. If you want to split those 16 hours up among seven coaches and one manager who will each get two hours of volunteer credit that is your choice. Please send a quick e-mail to jerrismiller@comcast.net letting me know how you want this split to occur as soon as the season begins.

Side note…
Also, this year there will be no coach/manager combinations that involve immediate family members. Past seasons have proven this combination to not be in the best interest of the team as a whole.

Concession Stand
In addition to the 4 volunteer hours, each team will be assigned 3-4 days of working the concession stand.

This year FLHA has committed to working 3.5 months in the stand in order to receive a credit of paid ice time from FLAAA. This credit should be in the range of $10,000 or more and it does significantly reduce all of our fees.

I will be posting the team concession stand assignments soon on the website and will also have a big calendar in the concession stand that will include hours to be worked and the team assignments. The concession stand work assignments will be coordinated by the team and the team manager. If there are conflicts or swapping of hours, this would need to be worked out with other team managers.

The concession stand assignment is not covered by your 4 hours of volunteer time. The concession stand assignment is in addition to the 4 hours of volunteer time. That means even if you are a coach, manager or a board member you will still need to pitch in to get the three to four days completed in the stand with your team.

D2 Assignments
The end of the year D2 assignments will not count toward your 4 hours of volunteer time. The teams that are playing in the D2 tournaments will cover the D2 work assignments.

$250 Security Volunteer Check
Managers will be collecting the $250 volunteer checks at the beginning of the season from all of the families. This check is a simple assurance that all families will indeed do their part to make the season run smoothly and that all volunteering needs will get met. The checks are not cashed unless the family fails to complete their volunteering obligations for the season. If the volunteering obligations are met, the check is returned at the end of the season (not when the hours are completed).
