Volunteers

2023-2024 Volunteer Policies & Opportunities

Volunteer Responsibility

8 credits per skater (maximum of 12 credits per family) registered at the following levels:  Mite/8u  Levels 2 - 4, Squirts & 10U, PeeWees & 12U, and Bantam & 15U(if applicable).

Board members, committee members, and head coaches will be credited 12 credits.  Team DIBS can be distributed as such: 8 credits each for up to 3 assistant coaches; 12 credits for a single team manager; 8 credits each for co-managers or 8 credits each for a manager and scrimmage coordinator.  These credits are NOT transferrable.

Security Volunteer Check

The Association will be collecting a $600 check per player at the OpenHouse at the beginning of the season.  If participating in Tryouts, the volunteer check must be collected before a Tryout Jersey will be issued.  These checks assure that all volunteer needs are met throughout the season.

Checks collected will be held until the end of the season.  Checks will be cashed at the end of the season if a family fails to complete 100% of their credit responsibly.  Families that fulfill their volunteer credit obligations will have their check shredded.

Volunteer Buy-Out Option

There is a “buy-out” option of $500 per player prior to season start and is offered at the time of registration.  This option is available until the season starts and will not be offered once Tryouts are complete.  Please contact Brianna Pyka @ fundraising@flhockey.org if you have questions.

Team Duties

For 'Travel Teams' (ages 9 & up) there will be additional responsibilities that will need to be shared.  Team duties do not count toward your volunteer credits.  Possible duties include running the game clock, assisting with the penalty box or completing the score sheet for all scheduled district games.  Team managers will assign these duties amongst the team.

Concession Stand

In addition to the Team Duties as outlined above, the traveling teams at each level are collectively responsible to staffing the Concession Stand for one month.  The Team Managers will coordinate and determine how best to staff the available shifts.  Typically each family should only need to cover two to three 2-hour shifts during the month that their level is responsible.  Training is provided and no previous experience is required.  To cover a Concession Stand shift you must be 18 years or older.

In order to claim DIBs shifts to fulfill volunteer requirements your SportNGIN account must be linked to a skater's profile that has registered for the season.  If one parent registered their skater and would like to link that profile to another account, instructions can be found in the "How Do I?" section.
