At the beginning of each new season, there are typically a lot of questions regarding the scheduling of ice time. As a result we wanted to provide you with a brief recap of the scheduling process and the limitations that restrict the schedule from being issued earlier.
Each fall we provide District 2 with 10 times slots for each of our teams for scheduling home games. The District then schedules 7-10 home games for each of the teams and returns the additional hours back to us. The timing of receiving our games is different for each level and occurs in two general time frames, late Oct for those teams that begin league play in November and late November for those teams that begin league play in December. As a result, we can’t issue the Nov schedule until late October or the December schedule until late November. If we were to issue them earlier we would risk scheduling teams for practice when they had games. By mid December, we should be able to issue the remaining schedule for January and February.
The practice ice times each team receives are also monitored to ensure all teams receive a similar number of early morning or late night practices. As a guideline the practice start times on evenings when kids have school the next day is generally no later than the following:
• Mite & 8U – 7pm
• Squirts & 10U – 8pm
• Peewee, 12U, Bantam, 14U & Jr. Gold – 9pm
