2/26 NEXT D2 MEETING

The next scheduled District 2 meeting is on Sunday February 26th in Stillwater after playoffs. We usually meet at the North St. Paul VFW @ 6:30 on the first Sunday following the third Monday of every month.

These meetings are open to the public, just as our association meetings are.

D2 REPRESENTATIVE

If you have issues, questions and/or concerns - note in both the FLHA Rules and the D2 rules that there is a specific chain of command which you need to follow.

Please contact your specific level director, myself and/or the rules and ethics committee for guidance. DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO THE DISTRICT 2 DIRECTOR.

Our district director's (Michelle Brennan) plate is overflowing - and she won't have time to answer every single question. She will often rely on the D2 level directors, and the association reps (FLHA - Sue Nolan) to answer questions whenever possible. If questions/issues are filtered through us - we can often get you the answers in a more timely manner - again, as the director's duties are extensive year round.

Call or shoot me an e-mail and I will try to get to you as soon as possible.

2012 PLAYOFF BRACKETS AVAILABLE

I just received playoff brackets for each of the levels (with exception of C levels, Jr. Golds & 16's).

Final brackets have been edited, and teams have been added to the brackets. They are also on the D2 website - thought I would add them here for your convenience!

Brackets are listed below. As a reminder, there are no playoffs for squirts and 10U's anymore. This was voted on by the district board members (association reps) based on feed back from the coaches - too many complaints about interference with spring break, too many work assignments, high cost - and those levels don't go any further than districts. I have not included brackets for 14U A and 12U A, as those two teams are playing in the co-op based out of District 10. If you'd like to see those brackets, shoot me an e-mail and I will send them to you.

After hearing several complaints about the District 2 work assignments - I thought maybe a brief overview of what it takes to run a District 2 tourney - FOR JUST THE MINOR OFFICIALS. There are currently 117 games scheduled (this is JUST for the A and B levels). If District 2 asked for minor officials for EVERY game, we would need 702 volunteers. (Or $7,020.00 to pay other people to do it.) District 2 has us working as minor officials for our own games until the final rounds of playoffs - at which point - other associations will provide volunteers to officiate. (clock, book & penalty box). Each association is responsible for approximately 10 shifts of 6 people each.  Jerris, our amazin' volunteer coordinator has been gracious enough to consider your schedules - and is scheduling your teams to work your own games, so that you don't have to make a separate trip on a separate day.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PEE WEE C AND BANTAM C BRACKETS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE, BUT PLAYOFFS WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 14TH - MARCH 18TH.

GOOD LUCK RANGERS!!

MANDATORY COACHES/MANAGERS MEETINGS

The Bantam  A, Bantam B, Pee Wee A, Pee Wee B, 14U and 12U A and 12U B meeting is typically held the 3rd Wednesday of October.

The Bantam C, Pee Wee C, Squirts (all levels), and 10U's (all levels) meeting is typically held the 3rd Wednesday of November.

The Mite L3 and L4 and 8U meeting is typically held on the first or second Wednesday in December. Many coaches stay afterwards to schedule their own games for the UPPER LEVEL MITES and 8U's.

For all meetings - You receive updates on rules and rule books, this is a great time to ask any questions you may have.

FLHA now the 3rd largest association in D2!

Thanks to the efforts of Curt Smith and Mite director Jeff Dzurik - Forest Lake is now the third largest association in District 2, behind Stillwater and White Bear Lake!

Nice work guys! We hope to see a lot of returning players because of the new INTRO PROGRAM.

COACHING CERTIFICATION

Coaches have been given an extended deadline to complete their certification this year.

Minnesota Hockey has formed a committee to review and update the CEP certification process, including shortening the modules, and taking out some of the repetition. Thank you coaches for your input on this matter!

FYI - if you show up at playoffs - and your certification is incomplete - or you do not have a paper proof - YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE BENCH. Trust me, I saw it happen last year.
