*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Mila Krier #44

Mila is our Ranger in the crease. She’s making the most of her first season as a full-time goalie. She might ask the team to make the game “as boring for her as possible,” but you won’t catch her asleep when facing down a breakaway or shootout. Mila is building her brick wall one shot at a time, fearing none and asking for more. She understands her unique perspective allows her to read the game as it flows up and down the ice; she’s happy to share her observations with the team and coaches. She especially appreciates how everyone works hard to make her game uneventful, even when it’s anything but dull out there.

*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Emersyn Johnson #26

Emmy rocks both ends of the ice! She has a particular talent for being in the right place at the right time. Perhaps a chameleon of sorts, Emmy seems to suddenly appear with the puck from a log jam on the boards. She plays with her head on a swivel, ready to do whatever it takes, regaining possession one moment then clearing our zone the next. Emmy is full of energy and has a silly streak a mile wide. Spend some time with her and you’ll understand why the word ‘crafty’ has more than one meaning. Emmy’s creative in an artsy way, and then there’s that sly smile…

*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Aria Hardtke #24

Aria is the kind of player you’ll see everywhere on the ice. As she works in various positions she demonstrates hockey smarts and sound decision making. Aria is indispensable to clear the puck out of our zone when she’s playing defense. Then, she shows her chops on offense, pressing our advantage on a rebound with an assist or dumping it in herself. One of the nicest teammates you’ll ever have, Aria finds common-ground with everyone. Consider yourself fortunate if she’s introduced you to Rainbow Ranger the Lucky Ducky.

*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Naomi Stenglein #20

Naomi dares you to keep up with her when she’s moving the puck down the ice. She’s fearless about gaining possession and moving with it. Naomi carries the puck so smoothly that it looks effortless when she finds the back of the net. Don’t be fooled, though. She’s always ready to go to work and she won’t stop honing those skills. Naomi is a reliable bright spot who loves to keep the team positive with her fabulous dance moves and silly sense of humor.

*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Maxine Roush #16

Max gets low and moves fast. Max is a smart read, and she is so good at getting to the tough spots. Her Hockey IQ is high, and her hustle is hardcore. She is tenacious on the puck and always supports her teammates. Max's focus is clear, and her determination is contagious. Watch out if she’s had a Bubbl’r! She’s known to share her power-booster in true team-player fashion. Max won’t quit and she stays with her teammates to make sure everyone gives it their all.

*** RANGER SPOTLIGHT ***

Hailey Secor #12

Hailey has an eyes-on-the-prize determination whether she’s battling for the puck or moving fast on a breakaway. This fourth grader has an incredible work ethic; she never quits on a play. Hailey is fast acting and quick thinking. Hockey is all about the skill and grit. And Hailey undeniably has both! If you see her off the ice, she’s sure to make you smile. Hailey knows all the latest trends and keeps everyone up to date. SLAY BADDIE!

Our girls met a tough challenge in Somerset today. It was a great opportunity to learn while facing a very skilled opponent. They'll test their legs a bit tomorrow, then get after it at 8am on Monday. Check them out at Super rink for Danglefest starting at 8am on 12/29.

What the numbers can’t convey are the countless steps to & from one another’s rooms, the cumulative hours spent in the pools, the determination to smash the celly button. The girls arrived as 13 teammates and departed Breezy Point as sisters, having shed tears of joy and disappointment. They forged a bond that will only grow stronger through the season. There’s a lot of ice left this year, and these Rangers are going to light it up!

Fantastic scrimmage with Spartacats today! It’s truly impressive to see the amount of learning that has happened in just one week. Skill-building has increased player confidence. We saw it as girls used the boards, pressured opposing players and fought to keep the puck out of our zone. Our amazing coaching staff have been developing the hockey basics and situational awareness while increasing endurance. Our girls are facing the 10U, full-ice game head on. 10UB1 will be a very exciting team to watch this year. Look for incredible growth week-to-week!
